Oracle Labs
Senior Member Of Technical Staff
Zahra Zohrevand is a PhD candidate at Simon Fraser University (SFU) doing research on a variety of statistical and machine learning prediction and anomaly detection algorithms to design and develop an almost fully automatic, comprehensive, and reliable cyber-attack detection framework to protect critical infrastructures in smart cities.

Meanwhile, she is also a part-time senior researcher in OracleLabs, contributing to the Machine Learning Explainability (MLX) project and its application in various contexts including cyber-security, using her machine learning skills. Prior to her PhD research project, Zahra focused on data warehousing and business intelligence, which was preceded by her MSc studies in the Methodology Engineering Lab at Sharif University of Technology on designing a Model-driven Situational Method Engineering approach.

With more than 10 years of research experience, she delivered several R&D projects, received several prestigious awards and contributed to industrial patents and high-quality publications in top-tier conferences. Zahra’s research interests include (spatio-)temporal data analysis, anomaly detection in intelligence data, predictive modeling, and deep learning. She has hands-on expertise in utilizing deep learning and Markovian models in multiple data domains such as intelligence data, critical infrastructure data, and trajectory data.

Besides research, Zahra has collaborated in a variety of projects in various domains such as knowledge management, ontology engineering, fraud detection, bioinformatics, robotics, interactive IoT, and social networks. She has also close to a decade of teaching experience.
