Dr. Thomas Davis joined ISED in 2017 as a Manager within the Science Policy Branch (Strategic Policy) within the Science and Research Sector.

Dr. Davis has over 20 years of experience in public and academic sectors, and was previously Manager for Innovation within the Office of the Chief Science Officer at the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). While in that role, he was a member of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) Expert Group on Space and Global Health.

He has also worked as the Senior Advisor for Science and Technology at the Canadian Space Agency, and as a Senior Science Advisor for Nanotechnology and Biotechnology at Environment and Climate Change Canada when first joining the federal public service in 2007.

Dr. Davis is a member of the Board of EXPO - Montreal Regional Science Fair and has a longstanding interest in space, STEM, science literacy and science communication. Thomas is a former NSERC and FCAR Postdoctoral Fellow. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Geochemistry and Chemical Engineering from McGill University and a B.Sc. (Honours Geology) from McGill.
