Gabrielle Simard

Délégation générale du Québec à Munich
Scientist in Residence
Gabrielle Simard is Scientist in residence at the Québec Government Office in Munich since September 2018, where she aims to foster partnerships in fundamental and applied research between Québec and Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The Scientist in residence programme is a pilot project led by the Fonds de recherche du Québec (Québec Research Funds), the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation (Ministry of Economy and Innovation), the Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie (Ministry of International Relations and La Francophonie) and the Offices jeunesse internationaux du Québec (International Youth Offices of Québec) to strengthen Québec’s science diplomacy capacities. Gabrielle is one of the first two participants in this pilot project.

Gabrielle obtained her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in astrophysics at McGill University after completing her undergraduate degree in physics at Université de Montréal and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. During her academic training, she developed an expertise in communicating physics and astrophysics, which led her to present her science outreach activities in several international conferences and to complete an internship in science communication at the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan in Tokyo.
