Director, Arrell Food Institute
Alice is a Director at the University of Guelph’s Arrell Food Institute. The Institute was launched in 2017 with
a mandate to use the University’s deep and applied agrifood expertise to elevate the place of food in national and international conversations. Her role spans team leadership; strategic, budgetary and business planning; oversight of program delivery; as well as brokering and supporting partnerships.

Alice’s career is at the interface of research and decision-making. She has been part of three Government Departments in London, as well as the Royal Society - the Science Academy for the UK and Commonwealth. She led portfolios for Higher Education and Research Policy, served as a Chief Scientific Adviser’s deputy, and managed networks of experts. She moved to Canada from the UK in 2014.

Alice received a BA(Hons) in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford and a MSc (distinction) in Science and Technology Policy from the University of Sussex. She was also elected to a two-year Policy Fellowship at the Centre for Science & Policy at the University of Cambridge.
