My career spans 20 years of experience related to scientific research in Canada and abroad. Formerly a PhD researcher in the field of physics, I have devoted the last ten years to optimizing the programs and policies driving major Canadian investments in research infrastructure.
At the CFI, I oversee the implementation of a large portfolio of multi-stakeholder projects at institutions across Canada – estimated at over $350M in total costs – including at SNOLAB and TRIUMF. These projects span all scientific domains in the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, art and health. I also lead analyses, discussion papers, and community consultations that serve to inform strategy, policies and programming.
I have developed a keen interest in all aspects regarding the funding and management of international, large-scale research infrastructure. I am the co-lead on the CFI’s Major Science Initiatives and a member of the OECD’s Global Science Forum Expert Group on Optimizing national research infrastructure.
I am best appreciated for my analytical, collaborative, written and verbal communications skills, and also for aptitudes in team leadership, program and project management, and strategic planning. Past colleagues have said I have a telescopic working efficiency, from the minute detail to the big picture considerations.
My former research activities led to the publication of 31 peer-reviewed journal articles and 15 proceedings in the areas of laser-matter interactions, laser fusion, ultrafast lasers, attosecond science and laser-based terahertz sources. I hold a PhD in Physics from École Polytechnique in France.
